These statements are also taken from the OFSTED handbook for schools.
They focus the mind on the need for robust and good quality cover work to ensure learners are on task throughout the lessons that need cover when the teacher is not there.
Again look at the statements highlighted in green:
Work set for cover allows the pupil to access knowledge and develop their understanding and practise skills linked to their learning
Work set for cover is challenging and interesting and keeps the pupils on task throughout
There are opportunities for pupils to be stretched and challenged where it is appropriate and where pupils need extra support it is acknowledged as part of the work set
Pupils know that having a Cover Supervisor is not an opportunity to put in less effort and continue to show a commitment to want to succeed in what they are set
The work set provides opportunities for pupils to build on their prior learning and make some progress with their learning
