Overlaid onto the push-pull diagram is the process in relation to the coaching continuum.
Coaching can be directive although that for most of us is didactive. Essential when learning a new skill, or something linked to health and safety.
We have already looked at mentoring as something that sits closely aligned to coaching but that is still in the hands of the coach and not the coachee.
What we really want to aim for is the facilitative coaching approach which is where we want to create independent learners, individuals who are ready to learn for themselves and teachers who are willing to take risks and are not afraid of failure and mistakes in the pursuit of learning and achievement
