Cover Supervisors are not teachers and should not be expected to teach. However, learning a few tricks of the trade is always a good thing and the more confident you are in being close to the learning and supporting pupils where you can the more likely pupils are to respond to you as someone who can be a guide and a reassuring adult that can help if they are stuck or need to know what to do next.
The statements on the slide are replicated as a set of cards in the resources section. Once again if you use a guillotine to create a set of uniform cards they make a useful resource to share your own good practice and listen to tips and ideas from others.
You can use these with teachers or with other Cover Supervisor colleagues.
