Listening Inhibitors

NOTES

Take note of these statements that define what we all do when we are listening to what someone else is say to us.

We are focused on what we want to say next so we stop listening and concentrate on what is going inside our own head.

Sometimes if we are in a hurry, have a pressing issue we want to return to or we are frankly not very interested we will stop hearing.

If we think that we know what is coming next we sometimes stop listening or of we believe we know better we can override a person.

Interrupting is annoying and sometimes loses the thread of the conversation.

Understanding what stops us from listening well can help us to become much more active listeners.
