Barriers to active listening


Raise your awareness of the barriers that might impede your ability to listen actively.

Focus on how well you listen as you go away from working through this section and consider how often you move away from listening actively to what a colleague, a pupil or a member of your family or a friend are saying.

To be a coach you must move away from displaying any of these traits.

Work with a colleague or in a group to consider how you can answer the question at the bottom of the slide, how might you overcome your blocks to listening effectively?
