We have broken the course into five sections, each can be delivered over time or they can form part of or the whole of an INSET day.
It has been designed to follow the same pattern as the courses we have run as full day sessions in venue with one of our trainers which would run from 10.00am to around 3.00 to 3.30pm with time for lunch and a break in the morning and afternoon.
Each slide comes with a set of notes which are narrated on a separate Powerpoint that is included in the resources section at the end of the course and each slide is replicated on the platform so that you can go through them individually with your Cover Supervisors.
We focus on roles and responsibilities of a Cover Supervisor, a review of learning, achievement and progress in the context of a cover lesson. We then focus on team working and thinking about the role of the Cover Supervisor in relation to their place within subject or teaching teams and their role in supporting pupils to learn and progress. We look at some of the skills that are synonymous with coaching and how learning to coach can be highly beneficial for all those with a pupil facing role. Finally we use a very simple to highly effective coaching tool, the GROW model to consolidate the learning from the day and to focus on next steps for those taking part.
