A live face to face webinar and a CPD box set of essential resources, materials and research linked to strengthening the expertise of teachers in the primary and early secondary phase who do not have first-hand expertise and qualifications in history; or who do but would like a refresher.
A high-quality history education will help pupils gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. In this course we look in detail at the qualities of a history curriculum that will inspire pupils’ curiosity to know more about their own local and national history and then about the world in which they live. We look at the aims, that are an essential element of ensuring pupils understand how we find out about and record past events and know about the people that shaped the past. We look at how to build seamless knowledge for all pupils from the primary school into key stage 3 and beyond.
We look in detail at the history programmes of study and other important research to unpick the key concepts, themes, processes and skills that history leads and teachers must use to create a sequential and substantive curriculum that delivers high quality pedagogy and learning in and beyond the history classroom.
