A live face to face webinar and a CPD box set of essential resources, materials and research linked to strengthening the expertise of teachers in the primary and early secondary phase who do not have first-hand expertise and qualifications in geography; or who do but would like a refresher.
Geography helps us to make sense of the world and our place within it. This course maps out essential curriculum standards that create for pupils opportunities to learn about the physical and human geography that defines how the Earth’s features at different scales are shaped, interconnected and are changed over time. In this course we look at the vocabulary, concepts, themes and skills that will create a rich curriculum offer and that will support curriculum leaders and teachers of geography to enrich their planning. We look at how to build knowledge and geographical skills that will create seamless learning and high- quality pedagogy from the primary school into key stage 3 and beyond.
We look in detail at geography curriculum standards and other important research to unpick the key concepts, themes, processes and skills that geography leads, heads of department and teachers must use to create a sequential and substantive curriculum that delivers high quality pedagogy and learning in the geography classroom and outside through fieldwork and observation.
