Description

English and literacy are pivotal to all learning in the primary school. Creating an English curriculum that ensures all pupils learn the basics and deepen their English and literacy skills over time is an essential goal for the English lead and all of the teaching staff in early years, key stage one and key stage two and in the quest to ensure all pupils are secondary ready by the end of year 6.

This programme provides the English subject lead and primary teachers across the two key stages and for early years with all they need to support teachers enhance their potential to ensure that English and literacy are taught well and are an integral part of the teaching across every subject. This programme has been written by Glynis Frater author of Primary Curriculum Design and Delivery.

Although the evidence suggests that initial teacher training for those wishing to pursue a career as primary teachers is quite in-depth and well structured new teachers developing their craft and working through the Early Career Framework need to have as may opportunities as possible to hone their own pedagogy skills and learn how to ensure that all pupils develop as fluent readers, fluid writers and can use their oracy skills to deepen their learning and their knowledge acquisition.

We look in detail at the standards for English included in the Programmes of Study and focus on the clear sequence that is defined across early years, key stage one and lower and upper key stage 2. We create for the English lead the resources, materials and activities that will give them the leadership skills to challenge all teachers to ensure that literacy is at the heart of every subject and allows pupils to be expressive, understand the knowledge, know and comprehend the vocabulary.
